Our history

The Gasthaus Elsner, a jewel of traditional Viennese hospitality, is now run by the third generation of the Schweinberger/Elsner family. It was founded by our grandfather, Anton Schweinberger, a pioneer of Viennese cuisine. Later managed by his daughter Hilda Elsner, the restaurant is today under the loving direction of Robert, her son, and Katharina, his wife. With their loyal companion Bessie, a friendly dog who often greets guests, the family business stands for warmth and a culture of welcome.

Robert - the host with heart and a passion for hunting

Robert doesn't just run Gasthaus Elsner; he embodies it. As a passionate hunter who inherited the traditions and love of nature from his father, he ensures that the restaurant always provides its guests with fresh and high-quality ingredients directly from the local flora and fauna. His passion for hunting guarantees that every dish served tells a story - a story of tradition, care, and respect for nature.

Traditional cuisine with fresh ingredients

In our kitchen, we place great importance on presenting Viennese culinary art authentically and with great attention to detail. Homemade sausages, such as liver and fried sausages as well as Blunz'n (blood sausages), are at the top of our guests' list of favorites. We also offer seasonal specialties like the Martinigansl, as well as perennial favorites like Wiener Schnitzel and roast pork. Each dish is prepared with fresh, regional products to ensure that the true taste of Austrian cuisine feels at home with us. Our carefully selected Austrian wine list complements the meal and ensures a completely satisfying experience in our restaurant. And for those who prefer something refreshing, we naturally also offer freshly tapped beer.
